 Berry Season 2010

 July 15

We are now closed for the season. The field will be available to anyone who wishes to try to pick a box or two until Monday morning.

We wish to thank everyone who visited our little farm. The season was early and hit us fast, and ended just as quick.

Anybody who traveled from the U.S. to visit us may have noticed a large Strawberry (4'X3') along side of I-95 at the Richmond corner exit. A number of visitors have commented on it and how that was how the found the exit.  I am sad to say, that It has been stolen! I believe that it went missing yesterday, July 14th, between 3p.m and 5:30p.m. Clues left leads me to believe this.

We have a problem with vandals in Richmond Corner, they destroy another sign in the area earlier in the season!

July 10 We closed today at noon. However, there are still berries in the field! If you wish to pick this afternoon and this evening, Phone one of these numbers - (506)325-8028, (506)325-8755, and we will meet you at the field. The season is almost done so hurry if you want them!
July 9 We will be closed all day tody to allow the rest of the crop to ripen! We will open again on Saturday on regular and plan to remain open all day! Just a couple of days of picking left!
July 8 Due to extreme demand, AND EXTREME HEAT, We closed today at aprox. 11:00 a.m ! We opened again at 5:00 p.m to allow some of the 6a-5p people pick some berries. These people most of the time go without their winter supply, and sometimes without even a taste of berries when we are busy and need to close. If you fall in this category, email us, let us know your situation, and we will put you on a list and contact you next year. We do this randomly and behind the scenes, so that some can't take advantage. This is something special just for the 6a- 5p workers!
July 7  Due to extreme demand, AND EXTREME HEAT, we had to close at aprox. 11:30a.m . Sorry for your inconvenience, AND for posting the closure so late, I had some things I immediately had to look after. We will be open  again in the morning, July 8th. The season is starting to wrap up so come early as we can't promise how long we will be open. We like to be open our full hours, but go by availability! SO HURRY !!!
July 5Due to extreme demand, we had to close at approx 3:00p.m. Sorry for your inconvenience. We will open again on Wednesday the 7th . Hope to see you there!
July 3Due to extreme demand and the fact we are 2/3 through the season, we had no choice to close at aprox. 11:15 am. Sorry for you inconvienence! We will be open Monday morning at our regular time. Thank you for your patience!
July 1Due to the lack of Berries, We had to close for the remainder of the day. We will open again on SATURDAY at our regular hours! Sorry for your inconvienence! Thanks for your patience!
June 28As we know, It's raining. It's a slow day on the farm. We may turn our signs to close, however, If you wish to pic your own  in the rain, your welcome to do so!  We still perfer if everone is cleared out around 7p.m. This is so we can go to bed at a decent hour as we get up really early!
June 26 I haven't kept my daily memo cause there has been no drastic weather, or mass shortage of Strawberries. We have lots.
June 21 We picked a few and took them to town to peddle on Connell Road. We plan to open fully tomorrow, June 22. That includs U-pick and the farm store, plus we will be taking some to town to peddle.
June 20 We got about a 1/2" of rain out of that shower!
June 18At 11:45, Helen and Penny Haynes took 5 flats of berries to town. They are sitting in a vacant lot on Connell Road. They are located beside the Smile Center. We pick all that was in field. Regular season will start next week! Hurry, won't last long!
June 7 O.k, thats enough rain for a day or 2!  Aproximately another  1", 7/16  of rain fell the last couple days. This years crop should be ready in about 2 weeks.
June 4 Well! That was a nice rain! From Wednesday afternoon to Thursday evening a total of 2 inches fell on Plymouth and other areas. Very good. Most people don't realize how low our water tables actually are. We really need to protect our wet lands, they act as filters and tell us the actual ground water level. When they are dry, the water table is really low! As for the STRAWBERRIES, they are doing well. The early varieties are forming berries, quite rapidly. I walked through one patch and they were hanging in clumps, waiting for a good rain to make them swell!
May 30 These past 3 weeks have been quite busy. As most people who visit us know, we only use small amounts of weed killer, NONE on the crop to be picked, so we have been busy pulling weeds  to make your picking more pleasant. Our biggest patch is the cleanest for weeds that they have been since Penny and I started looking after the farm. We are impressed with how well it came in this year. The rows are about 2 ft wide and full of plants. We have one old patch from last year, has a few weeds, BUT very good berries! We also have another smaller, new patch.  STRAWBERRY SEASON SHOULD BE IN LESS THAN FOUR WEEKS!!  ALSO, PLEASE MAKE A NOTE OF CONTACT CHANGES.
 May 9

 Happy Mother's Day!!!

This past week, we planted  the new crop, fertilized  the crop to be harvested, and are getting the machinery ready to roll. I haven't put out my rain gauge yet, but will be soon. It's been slightly DAMP the last few days. Remember to use the CONTACT page in order to get advanced information when the picking season starts, and throughout the entire season. All you have to type, is your name and email! A last initial is fine. Or first initial and last name will be fine as well, whatever you wish

 April 28

Welcome to another year! We had a pretty good winter, wasn't overly cold, not too much snow!  The Strawberry plants have seemed to have wintered well. There's barely room to walk between the rows, there is so many plants. Hopefully it will stay that way! So far we have uncovered the plants and are now preparing to plant next years crop. We hope to start planting today, unfortunately there is a little rain.

With the seasons passing so early, we expect harvest to be, 2 - 3 weeks early. Probably 2nd or 3rd week of June. So please be attentive to the season so that you don't miss this very short season. A typical season lasts 3 - 5 weeks, although as most know, this season is very unpredictable, so try not to wait to long, you may miss the best conditions or, as I've seen a couple of times, people miss the season altogether!

This is another reason I set up this website, INFORMATION, at your finger tips. So please, use the contact us page and I'll send you a convenient email when the season is starting.

 Berry Season 2009
July This wraps up Strawberry season 2009! Thank you to all who braved the rain and damp weather! Those who fought with rotten ones and crawled in soggy rows!   Thank You !!!!!! If it wasn't for your persistence, the berry season would have been a lot shorter, Thank You!

We all hope to see you all next year and look forward to meeting new visitors to our little farm!
